Tips To Repair Lawn

LawnSafe provides a wide range of services to help repair lawn damaged because of insects, weeds, improper fertilization, composting, and wrong lawn mowing techniques. We also provide a range of tips to help you repair lawn damage without expensive equipment.

Choose a dry day to repair lawn damage. You will first want to get the ground loose. If the soil is too hard, nutrients, oxygen, and water will not reach the roots. As such the grass will grow slow and often also die. Aeration should thus be the first step. Use a garden fork and push it into the soil to create holes. Do it all over the lawn. You want the holes about 3-6 cm apart. It is not an easy task, but worth the effort. If you find it too hard, simply call us in and we will handle it with tools made specifically for the job.

Once the holes have been made you will want to rake the lawn and remove the dead and loose grass. Do it twice to ensure that the loose materials have been removed. If seeding is required to fill in dead patches, now will be the time. Seed evenly with a shovel or a seeder. Once again, we are here to help repair lawn areas.

You will need top soil and a bit of composting if the grass is generally in a poor condition when you repair lawn. You can repeat the seeding process where needed. Use a drag brush to get the seeds into the soil. The soil and seed must be well rubbed into the lawn. Add water – don’t overdo, but water the lawn regularly for the next two weeks. Simply trim the lawn once the seeds have taken root. Don’t mow, just trim.

From here on, simply mow the lawn one third of the grass blade length on a regular basis. Water early morning or in the evening and whenever you need more help call in the experts to help repair lawn patches.
