In the meantime a few tips on planting grass to repair patches are shared below to help you do it right from the start.

Step One

First remove the dead lawn and weeds through use of a shovel. Make sure you get the roots as well.

Step Two

If the area was damaged because of pet urine, oil or over dosage of fertilizer, flush the soil first with clean water before planting grass. This must be done at least 15 cm deep.

Step Three

Spread a thin layer of composts on the specific area and work it in a bit. Rake the area to get it level with the adjacent surface.

Step Four

Spread the seed evenly over the area. Do this about four times in different directions. Press it lightly to ensure that the seed is in full contact with the surrounding soil.

Step Five

Use a bit of top dressing to cover the area and spray water over the area to keep the soil moist. You will need to keep the soil moist for the first two weeks. Once the seeds germinate keep spraying water lightly over the area a few times a day to keep the soil moist. Be sure to only keep the soil moist and not totally wet. Once the grass grows you can use the normal water schedule.
